Notes:
1. Dimensions: Spiral
stairs are manufactured in a variety of diameters.
Larger diameters increase perceived comfort,
ease of use, and safety.
2. Tread and platform materials: The most
common materials aree steel aluminum, and wood.
Steel and alumninm can be smooth plate, pan
type, and bar. A variety of hardwoods can be
used although many manufacturers used steel
substructure to support the finished wood surface.
Plywood usually is used under carpeting.
3. Coatings: Standard for interior locations
is red oxide primer or black enamel. Standard
for exteriior and wet area interior locations
is hot dipped galvanized or zinc-chromatic rust
inhibitor primer. Other coatings are available
via special order.
4. Handrails and balusters: A large variety
of materials are available, including steel,
aluminum, brass, bronze, wood, glass and plastic
laminate.
5. Platform Dimensions are norrmally 2 inches
larger than the stair radius. Various anchorage
connections are avaiilable to suit the floor
structure.
6. Clear opening for stair must be a minumum
of 4" larger than the stair diameter for
handrail clearance.
7. All spiral stairs are available wiht
a landing or you may frame your own.
8. All illustrations show our landings
with handrails. When you frame your own landing,
a level handrail is not normally provided buy
is available as an option.
9. We also manufacture custom handrails,
ladders, landings, and fences as well as other
stair types to meet your project requrirements.
10. Please refer to local and national codes
for dimensional and construction requirements
for your intended usage.
TO DETERMINE
THE TOTAL ROTATION OF YOUR STAIR:
Divide your floor to floor height (FF) by
the number of risers (N) to determine the riser
height (H). Riser height should be between 7.5"
for code compliance. The number of treads is
one less than the number of risers. Multiply
the number of treads by the chosen tread angle
(see chart below for standard treads) to determine
the total stair rotation.
